Martinick Hair Restoration’s Medical Director Dr Jennifer Martinick MBBS speaks about hair transplantation and the sorts of questions people should ask when choosing a physician to perform their hair transplant.
Dr Martinick says the only clinically proven way to way to permanently treat hair loss is to undertake single follicle grafting.
She says when choosing a surgeon it’s advisable to not only visit the doctor’s website, but also to speak to some of the doctor’s patients to find out about their experience and the results achieved for them.
Before going ahead with a transplant prospective patients are advised to find out if their chosen physician will be actively involved in the whole procedure.
This means that a surgeon should be present and actively involved in not just taking the donor strip – as happens in many clinics – but also in quality control of handling the donor grafts and carefully implanting each follicle.
The donor follicles must be implanted at the same angle and orientation as your own hair.
She says a carefully selected and highly trained surgical support team also plays a significant role in a successful hair transplant.
Many people ask whether hair transplantation works. There is only one way to get hair permanently back on your head once it is lost. And that is to undertake single follicle grafting.
I’m really passionate about delivering the best possible outcome for the patient. I want to make sure that the patient has a most comfortable day, that the grafts are well looked after and they get back into his body to get adequate nutrition and oxygen as fast as possible.
Often people ask how do you choose your doctor. And there’s so much confusing information on the internet these days. If you can, talk to one of the doctors patients. And get some idea of what the procedure is like. Have a look at their outcome. What was the day like when you actually had your procedure?
At Martinick Hair Restoration you will find the doctor is actively involved in the whole procedure. Not just taking the donors site removal as happens in many clinics but in the total procedure, whether it be quality control of the grafts or actually actively implanting.
When patients come in at 12 months it is mind blowing. They say crazy things like. And I’m thinking well of course I knew it was going to work.
Over four and half thousand people have chosen to have Martinick Hair Restoration. And this is because of our attention to detail and also knowing the high quality of staff that are actually taking part in the procedure.
